Hello World
Welcome to Ethically Sourced Exceptions, a personal site for sharing my photography and my thoughts on tech, code, and AI. See about for more info about me and the site.
What to Expect
This site will primarily feature:
- Technical posts - Focused on tech and coding topics
- Photography - Photo gallery of shots I’ve taken, and maybe some thoughts on photography
- Miscellaneous - Musings, thoughts, possible book recommendations… We’ll see where it goes!
What’s Next?
The site has light/dark theme support (see upper right corner button)!
I’ve got some initial photos up, check them out in the gallery.
Initial features:
- Nice grid view with thumbnails
- Photo light box browser (when you click on a thumbnail)
- Dedicated page for each photo (
/photography/[photo-id]) accessible via link at bottom of lightbox browser - Meta/exif data at the bottom of images so you can see lens and camera settings, as well as if it was cropped or a panorama
- View the full resolution image (exported as 90 quality jpeg) via link on the dedicated photo page
- Photo ids/slugs are generated from the images using AI as an experiment
I am going through past photos up to present that I like and refining the RAW edits before uploading, there’s at least a few hundred I plan to add, so I’ll be adding those over time. I have some more ideas for improving the gallery experience as well.
Note there is no categorization to the photos, they are currently ordered by date the photo was taken.
Some ideas I have for future posts (no promises):
- Write up on the tech stack I used for this site, how I went about creating it, and making the repository public
- Deep dives into Rust and/or other coding specific topics
- Thoughts on AI in software development and photography
- Deeper look at my approach to photography, gear I use, and post-processing workflow
